Public Relations Statement on Mr. Zenro Fujikura's Illegal Demonstration on September 22
(Last Update: )
Mr. Zenro Fujikura, who has become a criminal defendant for multiple illegal intrusions into our religious facilities, conducted an illegal demonstration that desecrated our faith on September 22 (Sunday) in front of the Tokyo Shoshinkan (Minato-ku, Takanawa), which is a worship facility of our religious group.
On this day, which coincides with the equinox, many believers were expected to gather at the hall for the Great Festival of Love and Memorial Prayer, among other events, to remember the deceased. Therefore, on the 20th (Friday), two days before the demonstration, our religious group sent a notice via fax and certified mail to Mr. Fujikura, urging him not to engage in illegal acts intended as harassment. Nevertheless, around 11:30 a.m. on the day, Mr. Fujikura and others appeared in bizarre attire, including helmets and masks, and continued harassment for an extended period, consistently engaging in outrageous behavior that could ruin the solemn ceremony, causing significant inconvenience to the neighbors.
This demonstration was fundamentally an act of desecration against religious activities in front of a worship facility, as well as a malicious act that obstructed religious activities such as prayers and sermons conducted at the Tokyo Shoshinkan on that day. It constituted acts under "Disrespect for Places of Worship" (Penal Code Article 188, Paragraph 1) and "Obstruction of Sermons, etc." (same Article, Paragraph 2). Additionally, as an unauthorized group demonstration (protest), it was an illegal act that violated the "Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly, Group March and Group Demonstration Ordinance" (same ordinance Article 1). Furthermore, Mr. Fujikura and others set up hanger racks and banners on the road without permission, which constitutes a "Violation of the Road Traffic Act" (same Act Article 77, Paragraph 1, Item 2).
In the past, Mr. Fujikura and others have repeatedly engaged in nuisance acts by gathering in front of our religious facilities. On September 11 last year, they gathered about 20 people, including spectators, in front of the Happy Science General Headquarters and committed an unprecedented grave act of desecration against our faith by kicking the Gohonzon, which is the object of our faith, obtained without our religious group's consent. Additionally, Mr. Fujikura has become a criminal defendant for multiple illegal intrusions into our religious facilities, and this illegal demonstration was initially planned as an extremely malicious anti-religious act with "desecration of faith" as its primary purpose.
These acts harm conscientious believers who are striving day and night to build an ideal society and should not be tolerated. Our religious group once again warns Mr. Fujikura, who repeatedly desecrates our faith, and will continue to broadly advocate the importance of the values of "freedom, democracy, and faith."
