Weekly Shincho should reflect on the fact that the reason the former female believer lost her faith lies in their own false articles.

The August 13-20 issue of Weekly Shincho published claims by a former female believer who lost faith in Happy Science, desecrating the noble faith. However, the reason they let go of their faith in the first place was none other than the baseless articles by Weekly Shincho and others. Weekly Shincho should humbly reflect on their responsibility.

Distortion of facts by Weekly Shincho

The problematic article is related to the Supreme Court's decision not to accept our appeal against the Tokyo High Court's ruling last December, which partially recognized the refund claims of former believers. It persistently engages in 'impression manipulation' as if the claim that the former believers 'lost faith due to women's issues' was acknowledged.

However, the 'scandalous reports about women's issues by weekly magazines' that led to the loss of faith were undoubtedly conducted by Weekly Shincho itself. Moreover, on August 9, 2013, the Tokyo District Court issued a ruling in favor of our association, recognizing damages against Shinchosha, which has been finalized. This lawsuit was filed by our association against four defamatory articles published by Weekly Shincho from January to March 2011, and the sloppy investigative stance of Weekly Shincho has already been revealed in court. Additionally, in another lawsuit regarding this issue, the Tokyo High Court ordered Weekly Bunshun to pay 4 million yen in damages and publish a large apology advertisement using a full page of the magazine.

Furthermore, regarding the former wife, she herself withdrew the claim for consolation money due to women's issues at the Tokyo Family Court.

As is clear from these facts, it is none other than Weekly Shincho that misled former believers, caused them to lose faith, and plunged them into the depths of unhappiness.

Weekly Shincho insults sacred religious activities as 'money gathering'

In this article, our sacred principal image, the El Cantare statue in the form of a demon-subduing figure, is slandered as 'mere money gathering,' which is beyond religious ignorance and is an insult itself. This El Cantare statue is enshrined in branches nationwide as part of 'barrier creation' to stop evil thoughts that invite national crises, purify our country's impurities, and offer the light of love and faith to people worldwide, and is not solely targeting specific events like the prevention of North Korean missiles as written in the article.

It is precisely because of malicious magazines like Weekly Shincho that 'demon-subduing' elements are necessary in religious activities. One should know that stopping evil and promoting good is the royal road of religious activities.

Weekly Shincho should heed the warning of 'not tolerating desecration'

In the end of the article, an unforgivable blasphemous expression such as 'If you are not Buddha, you should have said so from the beginning' is used.

The Supreme Court's decision this time was an unilateral intervention by state power in the evaluation of religious acts that should originally be entrusted to the internal autonomy of religious organizations. A decent media should raise questions against such an unconstitutional ruling that views religion on par with 'commercial transactions' as the pinnacle of religious ignorance. Weekly Shincho, which alienates believers with false reports and spreads its selfish claims in a match-pump manner to incite anti-religious sentiment, is nothing but a running dog of misguided power.

Religion ultimately does not tolerate desecration. The editorial department of Weekly Shincho and Editor-in-Chief Itsushi Sakai must sincerely heed this warning.
