Rebuttal to Weekly Shincho's Defamatory Article
(Last Update: )
In the June 2nd (Thursday) issue of "Weekly Shincho," an article was published defaming our organization under the headline 'Women's Magazine Serializing Manga by Ryuho Okawa of Happy Science.'
As a comment from the Public Relations Division, we publish the following rebuttal.
First, I would like to state that Weekly Shincho has been sued for defamation by our organization in the Tokyo District Court, seeking damages of 200 million yen for deliberately publishing a series of defamatory articles that are beyond the pale. I wonder how the magazine perceives this fact.
Furthermore, in response to an interview request from the editorial department of the monthly magazine "The Liberty," published by Happy Science Publishing, which is part of the same group as our organization, Weekly Shincho openly stated an unbelievable reason, such as 'recognizing your organization as a cult,' under the name of Editor-in-Chief Itsushi Sakai, and twice refused to respond. Weekly Shincho should fully recognize how unjust their self-righteous stance of 'refusing interviews from others while demanding others respond to their own interviews' is when viewed against common societal norms, and should sincerely reflect on this.
It can be said that the article by Weekly Shincho, a party currently in litigation, lacks even a shred of reliability or fairness as a media outlet.
In particular, comments based on the speculation of Ms. Kyoko Okawa, such as 'purchase orders are issued (for the women's magazine where the manga is serialized)' or 'there are many quotas,' are completely unfounded and are an intolerable insult to the organization and its believers. We strongly demand a correction to the article.
Additionally, journalist Naoki Yamada, who mocked President Ryuho Okawa by saying 'he can't even manage his wife properly,' should be well aware that Ms. Kyoko Okawa was not a 'proper wife' in the first place. Our organization strongly protests against him, stating that it is absolutely unacceptable to insult President Okawa, who is the object of faith for believers worldwide, based on arbitrary speculation.
There was a caption in the article's photo saying 'Is it okay as long as it sells!' but we would like to return these words exactly as they are to Weekly Shincho, which continues to trample on faith and human rights in a desperate attempt to increase circulation.
As with previous articles, we will protest strongly and clarify justice and truth in court against Weekly Shincho and Ms. Kyoko Okawa. We also encourage many people to read 'Research on the Demon Nesting in Weekly Shincho' to expose the reality of malicious journalism to the world and advance the cause of justice.
